Helen Didusch (nee Ruebusch)

July 24, 1934 ~ November 16, 2018 (age 84)

Helen grew up in the West End where she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. She went on to graduate from Woodward High School. Eventually, her family would move to Beekman Street where they lived above the Beekman Cafe.

Helen's mother, Josie worked at the cafe, and one night she ate a handsome young man's dinner. Realizing what she had done, she sent the young man upstairs, where her daughter Helen was cooking. That young man was Joe, and as they say, the rest was history.

As Joe's dad had passed away, they lived with Joe's mom in Covedale, after marrying. Eventually, Joe, Helen, grandma Didusch, and their four children, settled in Delhi in a home he had built. Unfortunately, Joe passed away eleven months after they moved into their new home.

Life was not always easy or fair for Helen, but her strength, moxie and determination always saw her through. Those who knew Helen knew her love of music was deeply a part of who she was. In fact, Helen wanted to be an Opera Singer. Although that was never to be, Helen touched many people with her beautiful voice and continued to delight the staff and residents at Premier Estates of Three Rivers where she resided the last five years of her life.

To try and sum Helen up in a few sentiments is not possible. However, the core of who she was always reflected her care and love of her children, family, others, music and of course food, and let's not forget the best sense of humor often leaving people in stitches!
