Robert was born in Cincinnati. He was drafted into the US Army at the onset of WWII at the age of 20. He fought with the 34th Minnesota Guard Infantry in Algiers, North Africa and Italy. His unit fought alongside Patton’s Armored Division the entire war. He was discharged with honors at the termination of WWII in 1945. Robert was hired by the Cincinnati Fire Department and retired as an engineer after 33 years. The Airens Fox Pumper in the Museum was operated by Robert early in his career. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Margaret Kane Kaiser and his stepchildren Frank (Kathleen) Kane, Mike (Vicki) Kane, Joe (Donna) Kane, Kathy (Sam) Smith, Therese Kennedy, Pat (Jeannine) Kane and John (Chris) Kane and their families who thought the world of him, and several nieces and nephews and their families. Robert was a kind and loving man and will be greatly missed by all of his family. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Jessie (nee Mink) Kaiser, brothers Edward, Louis and infant sister Margaret Kaiser.
