Dennis R. Cavanaugh, beloved husband for 53 years of Paula J. (nee Baker) Cavanaugh. Devoted father of Joseph P. (Becky) Cavanaugh and Julie M. (Drew) Pifer, both of Cincinnati and Patrick W. (Christine) Cavanaugh of Monroe, Ohio. Loving grandpa 'Gramps' of Sydney, Conner, Molly and Andrew. Also survived by his dear cousins, Mary Anne (the late David J.) Boyd, Kate (Jim) Gaunt, Ed (Gail) Boesing, Judy (the late Don) Mellott, all of Cincinnati, Ann (Jim) Foley of Naples, Florida and the late Henry ‘Boes’ (Sannie of Cincinnati) Boesing. Dennis was also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph R. and Loretta Cavanaugh.
Denny was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Xavier University, and he served in the US Army, stationed in Korea. During his working years, he was employed in sales for various ophthalmological products companies until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul and chauffeuring residents of Western Hills Retirement Village.
Denny passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 7, 2025, after a brief illness; he was 84 years old.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 10:30AM, St. Antoninus Church, 1500 Linneman Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. Visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass. Final resting place, St. Joseph New Cemetery. If desired memorials may be made to the St. Antoninus St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference, St. Antoninus Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
