Louis D. Niehaus, Sr.

Louis Dennis Niehaus Sr., beloved husband of nearly fifty-nine years to Carol A. (nee Deters) Niehaus. Proud father of Kimberly Niehaus and Connie (Joel) Tiberghien, both of Loveland, OH, Kelly (Dean) Helton of St. Petersburg, FL and Casey (Korrie) Niehaus. Cherished grandfather of Sydney, Jake and Leah Tiberghien, Emma, Kaitlin and Jane Helton and the late Taylor Tiberghien. Dear brother of Nancy (the late Narong) Manetavat of Cincinnati and Joseph (Rhea) Niehaus of Madison, IN. Also survived by his brother-in-law John A. Deters of Gulfport, FL.  Lou was a cousin, uncle, great uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis J. and Mary Alice (nee Lahey) Niehaus.

Lou was a graduate of Elder High School and member of the 1958 Ohio state championship baseball team and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the 7th Cavalry Regiment Infantry Division and served an additional eight years in the Army Reserves. He was a dedicated Cincinnati Police Officer for over thirty-two years. He passed away peacefully on February 6, 2021; he was 81 years old. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, 7130 Harrison Ave. 45247 on Thursday, June 10, 2021, 10:00AM.  Interment with Military Honors to follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery. Along with representatives from the US Army, also present will be a Cincinnati Police Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church or to the Harry W. Deters Scholarship c/o Elder High School, 3900 Vincent Ave. 45205.  He will be dearly missed by many. Ralph Meyer & Deters Funeral Home serving the family.
