How We Honor Veterans
We at the Ralph Meyer & Deters Funeral Home feel a strong obligation and gratitude to those who honorably and faithfully served our country. Through our Church and Chapel Funeral Plan we supply a free American Made Protective Metal Casket and Burial Vault to all honorably discharged veterans. Survivors of any person who was an active or retired member of the military at time of death, or an honorably discharged veteran, could be eligible for a number of benefits, including:
Burial in a National Cemetery for casketed or cremated remains including the gravesite, opening and closing of the grave, and perpetual care.
Headstone or Marker - In a National Cemetery, a veteran, spouse of veteran, and dependent children receive a free headstone. For burial in a private cemetery, a simple marker for veterans ONLY will be provided.
US flag - An honorably discharged veteran is entitled to a US flag provided by the Veterans Administration.
Cash Death Benefit-The Ralph Meyer & Deters Funeral Home can determine a veteran's eligibility for the family.
The Presidential Memorial Certificate is a parchment certificate with a calligraphic inscription expressing the nation's recognition of the veteran's service. The veteran's name is inscribed and the certificate bears the signature of the President.
Military Funeral Honors at the funeral home or cemetery. The core elements of the Military Funeral Honors is flag folding, flag presentation and taps.
